Today, January 8, 2022, is National Vision Board Day: A vision board is a collection of images that represent the goals that inspire you. What or who inspires you to create?

At Trajectory Consulting, we are visionaries and planners. What better way to create a plan than to put it on a vision board so that you can visualize your dreams into action.

The typical vision board-making party has you cutting pictures out of magazines and making a collage that looks pretty.

But that isn’t the only way you can make a vision board. Follow these 3 simple steps to make your own BUSINESS VISION BOARD that can be presented in your office as a reminder of what is your business vision is for 2022.

Dream Big – But not totally out of reach!

Pick 3 hairy & audacious goals that you want your company to achieve this year. I recommend choosing goals that are NOT financial but produce financial results. An example might be hiring a new team or creating another complementary product line. Both are growth-related actions that can yield financial results. Post those goals somewhere that everyone can see them. When the goals are frequently seen, the reminder helps with the motivation.

Visualize The Dream – What does the dream really look like?

Now that you have the goal, what is needed to make it happen? Deconstructing the dream into smaller, bite-sized pieces that make it easier to achieve. Think reverse engineering and work backward to figure out what people, time, money, and resources are needed. This mapping list will help you achieve your dream. This is the real vision boarding exercise of making your business “collage” of strategies, tactics, & data that will be used to make the vision come true.

Make It A Reality – Taking action makes it all come true!

The biggest dream killer is lack of action. You have your dreams in the form of goals. You’ve broken them down into what it takes to make them come true. Now it is time to take action and start making it happen. Take the first step, make the first call, move the necessary resources into place, delegate jobs, and tell the world that you are going to make your dreams a reality. Don’t forget to review regularly and make adjustments along the way to keep you on track with your vision.
